Admin Note: For the record, this came about because Grand Prive shut down their affiliate program in December 2008, stopped paying affiliates yet kept the players on that were referred under the affiliate agreements.

As an aside, I do know that Microgaming have been contacted on this matter and indeed are being pushed from more than one angle. So far, they have declined to comment or get involved, but if one were to give the benefit of the doubt, that just may be the wheels of the cog grinding into action.

What is fairly apparent is that this issue has cast a shadow over Microgaming licensing. Until now, myself and a few other people I know have always considered Microgaming as a company who would step in to ensure proper conduct among their licencees. Maybe that's not the case.

There is a term in Grand Prive's T&C's - commonly referred to as the "FU clause" - which basically says they can do what they want. Whether that has a legal standing, I'm not so sure myself as I've seen it challenged in the retail sector before now and the rights of the consumer were upheld.

Either way, there is an ethical responsibility and hopefully Microgaming will realise that. If I were a Microgaming licencee, I would probably also be keen for MG to do something about this if only to protect their, and subsequently my, reputation.

Time will ultimately tell, but I'm certainly going to do a little more research rather than just accept new MG casinos in the future and it backs up my ethos that it's better to spread players around and thus spread the risk to my business. The bottom line is that, even if it is a Microgaming licencee, you need to know who you are dealing with. I won't be trusting a Microgaming licence as a guarantee any more, that's for sure.

I agree with you on the trust issue. I will no longer just see a new casino with the Microgaming software and automatic just sign up for the affiliate program, I have to now treat them the same way as I do any new RTG/Playtech casinos.

eCogra Seal is also proving to be as much worth as an empty beerbottle!

Have eCOGRA sealed their affiliate program? Or just the casinos?

Just their casinos.. but I still think that it is an issue on how an operation is run, or allows companies to run their operations... This cannot be good for the casinos in any sense and according to the eCogra Seal requirements...

eGAP incorporates an exhaustive and detailed schedule of requirements encompassing all areas of online gaming relating to player protection, fair gaming, and responsible behavior practices by the casino and poker room operators.

Who you allow to run the different sections of your business is very much your responsibility and if the marketing company screws people over .... IN YOUR NAME... then you need to take action - if you don't, then you are not acting responsibly and are acting against what eCogra apparently stands for. This is where I thought they may jump in and try and find out whats happening.. but the excuse of .. "we do not seal their aff program - so we have nothing to do with this" -.. simply does not cut it IMO.

Bit of a mouthfull, but I think you get the picture.
